Heterogeneity of Skin Surface Oxygen Level of Wrist in Relation to Acupuncture Point
نویسندگان
چکیده
The distribution of partial oxygen pressure (pO(2)) is analyzed for the anterior aspect of the left wrist with an amperometric oxygen microsensor composed of a small planar Pt disk-sensing area (diameter = 25 μm). The pO(2) levels vary depending on the measurement location over the wrist skin, and they are systematically monitored in the analysis for both one-dimensional single line (along the wrist transverse crease) and two-dimensional square area of the wrist region. Relatively higher pO(2) values are observed at certain area in close proximity to the position of acupuncture points with statistical significance, indicating strong relationship between oxygen and acupuncture point. The used oxygen microsensor is sensitive enough to detect the pO(2) variation depending on the location. This study may provide information helpful to understand possible physiological roles of the acupuncture points.

Measurements of Location-Dependent Nitric Oxide Levels on Skin Surface in relation to Acupuncture Point
Location-dependent skin surface's partial nitric oxide pressure (pNO) is studied using highly sensitive amperometric NO microsensor with a small sensing area (diameter = 76 μm). The pNO level of LI4 (Hegu) acupuncture point is measured and compared with the pNO level of nonacupuncture point. In addition, the mapping of pNO is carried out over the left wrist skin area one- as well as two-dimens...

Background: Acupuncture is an indispensable part of traditional Chinese medicine for relief of pain. The purpose of this study was the immediate & latent of low power LASER Ga-Al-As irradiation applied to acupuncture points on experimental pain threshold. Methods: This quasi-experimental study was conducted on seventy adult women ranging from 20 to 40 years old assigned randomly into two groups...

Acupuncture is an ancient medical procedure that is commonly used. It has been used in China for over two thousand years. Acupuncture has gained increasing interest from the public as well as health professionals for a wide range of disorders. This method works through regulation of qi current (life energy in body). Acupuncture has been introduced recently in dermatology for rejuvenation and tr...
متن کاملTorsional Surface Wave Propagation in Anisotropic Layer Sandwiched Between Heterogeneous Half-Space
The present paper studies the possibility of propagation of torsional surface waves in an inhomogeneous anisotropic layer lying between two heterogeneous half-spaces (upper and lower half-space). Both the half-spaces are assumed to be under compressive initial stress. The study reveals that under the assumed conditions, a torsional surface wave propagates in the medium. The dispersion relation ...
متن کاملEffects of the Different Light-Source Distances from the Skin Surface in Conventional Photother-apy
Phototherapy is a conventional method of lowering serum bilirubin in newborn jaundice. We evaluated the short distance in relation to conventional long distance phototherapy between the light-source and the skin surface. Healthy jaundiced neonates undergoing phototherapy were randomized into two groups. The distance between the light-source and the newborn's skin was 20 and 40 centimeters (G20;...
